Why we charge for Quotes

We know charging for a quote sounds like blasphemy, but here is why it’s essential…

Building or renovating your home is one of the most substantial investments most people will make in their lifetime, so it's important to go into it with open eyes and confidence. This is exactly why we charge for quotes!

We know this rubs some people wrong because everyone is used to seeing "free quotes" marketed everywhere. But in our experience, this is exactly why there are so many horror stories in the building industry. In order for a quote to be meaningful, it has to be accurate and contain precise details for both the client and the builder. When a builder offers a free quote, it means they are guesstimating, and things like budget blowouts with expensive contract variations, unfinished projects or poor-quality craftsmanship are the norm! Of course, we never want to associate ourselves with those situations! Instead, we want to provide the most accurate and comprehensive quote possible so all lines of communication are open and you can have clarity and confidence in us as your builders!

An accurate quote takes significant time and resources! Every project is different in scope, inclusions, and site conditions, and all these things must be considered. Generating an accurate quote includes contacting other trades to have them provide quotes for their services, including electricians, plumbers, painters, etc. Then there are all the materials; timber, screws, trusses for the roof, cladding, decking, tiles, fixtures, temporary fencing, skip bins, and so much more. It is no small feat to get these numbers right.

Given the significant amount of time and energy that goes into preparing a detailed and accurate quote, you can expect to pay between $500 and $3,500 for this service. The quote's exact cost depends on the job's size, complexity, and documentation quality. It can make a big difference if you have a rough sketch drawn up compared to engineer-approved plans.

By the end of this process, we offer a crystal clear picture of the cost that dismantles our clients' fears and will give you confidence to take the following steps with your project. With a full breakdown of all the costs, you can see the areas you can save and work out your financing according to your priorities.

During a project, you may decide to change some things, which can lead to variations, but even still, with such an accurate breakdown of costs from the start, these variations don't usually blow things out too disproportionately.
